Lineup and Details for The Broken Orchestra
‘Sweet electronica to sooth weary hearts and minds’ – Johnno Casson (BBC 6Music, Fresh On The Net)
The Broken Orchestra return with their new album ‘Pathways’, due for release via the band’s own label ‘A Bridge Too Far Recordings’ on 12th July 2019.
Their second full length features the solid lineup of founding members and producers Pat Dooner on keys and Carl Conway-Davis on samples alongside vocalist Emily Render and guitarist Tom Kay who have been with the band since it’s live inception back in 2017.
Recorded and produced by the band at their very own Element Studio in Hull, ‘Pathways’ shows a progression in The Broken Orchestra’s sonic palette while maintaining their signature down-tempo, trip-hop sound they have been carefully moulding since their debut album ‘Shibui’.
‘Pathways was constructed and developed over the last year or so. We played a run of dates throughout the summer to promote our last release and at the end of that we locked ourselves away in the studio to begin work on this album.’ Explains Dooner.
Although the album was mostly a collaborative effort between the four members, in true Broken Orchestra fashion, it also features a variety of guests including Stephanie Halsey (Gary Numan), poet Vicky Foster who the band recently collaborated with for the emotional BBC Radio 4 drama ‘Bathwater’ and the latest addition to The Broken Orchestra lineup in the form of drummer Rich Lovelock (The Talks). The debut single from the album ‘Mutual’ was released in October, charting in the iTunes charts in both Japan and Spain.
The band will embark on a UK tour in summer to promote the new album. ‘All five of us are really excited to be going back out on the road again.’ Says Kay. ‘With the addition of Rich on drums, we feel it has brought new life to our live performances and we’re looking forward to playing these new tracks and seeing how they develop even further in a live environment.’
